Safe Kids Columbia mourns the loss of Dr. Imtiaz Mahmood |

 Dr. Imtiaz Mahmood passed away on January 27, 2010, he was only 47. His immediate family is his wife Dr. Nigar Sultana. Born in Bangladesh, he graduated from Medical School there and for the past 4 years had worked for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in Jefferson City. During that time Mahmood served as the Coordinator for Safe Kids Missouri and worked constantly to support the childhood injury prevention efforts of Safe Kids coalitions across the state. His friendship, hard work and easy smile are greatly missed.
Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MoDHSS) is collecting contributions for a memorial fund for Mahmood to be given to SAFE KIDS Worldwide to start a SAFE KIDS coalition in Bangladesh which was Mahmood’s dream.

2010 Child Passenger Safety Technician Class |

Columbia SAFE KIDS Coalition and the MoDOT Highway Safety Division will sponsor a class Wednesday, April 21 to Saturday, April 24, 2009 hosted by Columbia MO Fire Department at their training academy located at: 700 Big Bear Blvd, Columbia, MO. 65203
Technician candidates must attend the entire course. Successful completion of this course certifies the individual as a Child Passenger Safety Technician for two (2) years. New technicians must participate in two car seat check-up events in a two year period. Current technicians are welcome to observe the class and may earn CEU's for recertification or request to be a course assistant.
